Powerica manufactures all control panels supplied with the DG Sets at our in-house facilities. We design and manufacture power control systems, which include synchronisation of DG sets in auto-mode with load dependent start/ stop capability, equal load sharing and load discrimination. These include all components for monitoring , special relays for protection along with instrumentation and controls for the complete power plant. The monitoring of these complete systems can be made available to the customer through SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition System) and BMS (Building Management system) integration.
Powerica’s control and switchgear panel design team executes multiple projects of this nature on a regular basis. Our panel manufacturing divisions at our factory in Bangalore and Silvassa are fully geared up for manufacturing them, meeting all ISO, CPRI, IRDA standards.
These specialized applications are mainly used in IT parks, data centres, the hospitality sector and especially hospitals.
Powerica has successfully commissioned a system, involving 16 X 2750 kVA capacity at one location to meet the total power requirements of 48 MVA in standby mode.
Manual Generator Control Panels
Every DG set installed by Powerica is equipped with a Manual Control Panel, manufactured in-house. Our manual control panels enable the monitoring and protection of all the engine and alternator parameters. This is achieved through the engine controllers or using dedicated and very sophisticated relays which have RS485 capability and can be controlled and monitored remotely.
A switchgear for isolating the DG sets supply is a standard fitment. This is achieved through an MCB, MCCB or ACB of the requisite capacity depending on the DG sets rating that is provided to isolate the DG sets in case of any (electrical fault) downstream. This protects both the operator (human asset) and the equipment from electrical mishaps and short circuits.
AMF Generator Control Panel
The current requirement of the IT, hospitality, pharma and continuous process industry is for the minimum outage in case there is a power failure.
Real-life examples in hospitals include on-going delicate operations. Similarly, in hotels and residential towers, customers could be stranded in elevators. Our automatic machines and robotics make available reliable power in the shortest time possible.
The Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) panels are available in all our DG sets ratings from 7.5 kVA to 2750 kVA prime.
To achieve this, Powerica’s AMF Panels have been developed, designed and manufactured to suit any customer specific requirements. The DG set will start automatically (without any manual intervention) in case of grid failure through the logic of the AMF panel.
Once the rated speed and voltage has been achieved, a command will be given to the DG sets’ switchgear to close, and the DG Set supply will be made available at the distribution panel.
In addition, Powerica designs & manufactures special auto changeover panels, custom-made to the customer requirement. These panels incorporate auto changeover facility to switch to the DG set power in case of grid failure and transfer back to the grid automatically when the electricity board power resumes.
An efficiency feature for shutting down the DG set after a settable cooling-off period is also available to prevent hot shutdowns of the engine.
Synchronising Panels
Powerica has been a pioneer in synchronising panel development which have been designed and supplied for many of our prestigious customers.
With the growing requirements of larger capacities of backup power coupled with the limitations of single engine horsepower, a critical requirement has emerged to achieve a captive power requirement through multiple DG sets installations. To enable, operate and make this power available, any installation with two or more generating sets, needs to be synchronised with each other.
Specialised panels have been designed for applications where DG sets ratings are not identical. The installation requires synchronising with other makes and models of engines with completely different characteristics.
Powerica has successfully been running these set-ups for many years and has recently delivered and commissioned a challenging and sophisticated synchronising system of 16 nos x 2750 kVA prime DG sets.
BMS
Building Management Systems (BMS) also known as Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management and Control System (BMCS), Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Controls BMS systems are 'intelligent' microprocessor-based controller networks installed to monitor and control a building's technical systems and services such as air conditioning, ventilation, lighting and hydraulics including power generation.
More specifically, Powerica provides the software that link the functionality of the individual DG sets so that they operate as one complete integrated system.
Now installed in every major building or facility with the availability of direct integration into all other building services such as security, access control, CCTV, fire prevention, elevators, power generation and other life and safety systems.
SCADA
SCADA refers to a system that collects data from various sensors at a plant and then sends this data to a central computer which then manages and controls the data. SCADA systems are used in industrial processes: e.g. power generation & other process industries.
SCADA achieves this requirement of collecting reliable field data through remote terminal units (RTUs), Intelligent Electric Devices (IEDs), and presenting them to user requirement. Powerica provides the user interface or the man machine interface (MMI) for various options of data presentation according to specific application and user needs. All together, the term SCADA refers to the entire central system which can be managed locally or remotely.
